We propose a t rans la t ion approach f r o m moda l logics to f i rst-order predicate logic which combines advantages f r o m b o t h , the (s tandard) rela t iona l t rans la t ion and the ( rather compact) func t iona l t rans la t ion m e t h o d and avoids many of their respective disadvantages (exponent ia l g row th versus equal i ty hand l ing ) . Direct Resolution for Modal-like Logics

In this paper we discuss the implementation of a hybrid logic theorem prover based on resolution, HyLoRes, which fuses first-order proving techniques with modal and hybrid reasoning. The focus is on implementation details, and on how we adapted first-order methods to the hybrid environment.

Metareasoning for Multi-agent Epistemic Logics

We present an encoding of a sequent calculus for a multiagent epistemic logic in Athena, an interactive theorem proving system for many-sorted first-order logic. We then use Athena as a metalanguage in order to reason about the multi-agent logic an as object language. This facilitates theorem proving in the multi-agent logic in several ways. First, it lets us marshal the highly efficient theore...

Building a Problem Library for First-Order Modal Logics

First-order modal logics have many applications, e.g. in planning and program verification. Whereas comprehensive and standardized problem libraries exist for, e.g., classical (TPTP library) and intuitionistic (ILTP library) logic, nothing comparable is so far available for firstorder modal logics. The aim of the Quantified Modal Logic Theorem Proving (QMLTP) library is to close this gap by pro...

The QMLTP Problem Library for First-Order Modal Logics

The Quantified Modal Logic Theorem Proving (QMLTP) library provides a platform for testing and evaluating automated theorem proving (ATP) systems for first-order modal logics. The main purpose of the library is to stimulate the development of new modal ATP systems and to put their comparison onto a firm basis. Version 1.1 of the QMLTP library includes 600 problems represented in a standardized ...
